To create sample networking infrastructure, we should need a networking simulator. In real time there have so many networking simulators in the world market. For example Packet Tracer, GNS3, Sem Sim and extra. In this Post we going to get help Packet tracer to build networking structures. Cisco organisation providing Packet Tracer application for people to play with network. Packet Tracer is free software and it is very familiar to work with this application.

Step 1.

How to use Packet tracer network simulator.

When you finish the downloading then proceed to formal installation procedure. After installation, application look like this..

Step 2.

To begin lets start with simple network structure for beginners. On the left bottom side you should see some kind of real time networking devices, Router, Switch, PC's and more. Do this practice, download this lab from here. Download

  Step 3.

After Download lab, Click on router1 device and select CLI tab to do actions.

Step 4.

Now router in the User Mode, Type enable to change user mode to Privileged mode..

Then do Follow things to go configuration mode

Now activate Fa 0/0 cross over cable and set IP address 192.168.1.1

Now activate Fa 0/1 cross over cable and set IP address 172.16.1.1

Step 5.

Set IP address For each PC's in the structure

To set IP address for PC0, click on it and chose Desktop from the tab and click on IP configuration, on the pop up window provide IP address, Subnet Mask and Default gateway for PC0. Follow the same action for each PC's with different IP address.

Then do confirm connectivity, do the ping for each PC's from router
