Share a Single Set of Keyboard-Mouse For Your Computers

Step 1.

First of all your computers must have network connection via LAN cable or other network connector. In this  topic i will guide you to configure computers to connect via LAN cable and share a keyboard and mouse set.


Step 2.
Connect two separate computers using LAN cable in a network 

First check whether cable plug into the both LAN ports and lights in the port should blink. If you using Windows 7 operating system, go to Control panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing center in boath computers and choose Change adapter setting  from the left sidebar. Futher right-click on the local area connection icon and select properties. Select Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPV4) option from open window and click on the properties button.


Step 3.

On the pop up window choose Use the following IP address filed by selecting radio button and assign 192.168.0.1 at the IP address field in one computer and assign 192.168.0.2 to next computer, for both computers assign Subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then click OK after complete.


Finally you done the LAN cable connection for both computers

Step 4.

Follow next important task that first computer is "Master" and the second computer called as "Slave" to share a single keyboard and mouse via a network. To do this you must need to use InputDirector software.

  • First Install InputDirector for both computers
  • Open InputDirector in the Master computer and select global Preferences from the tab. Follow the same action shows below picture and for Preferred Network Interface, click on the change button and select right entry for your LAN card from drop-down list.

  • Flip to the "Master configuration" tab and click on the Add button to add the Slave computer name. You can get the Slave computer name by right click on computer then select properties at the slave computer. Once you get the computer name, assign it at the Host name field, then click OK. After adding the name, it will appear in Slave System list.


Step 5.

Next, Go to slave computer and open InputDirector. Flip to the Global Preference tab and choose the "On start" option as Input Director is enabled as a slave, Change the preferred network interface in similar way that you did in your master computer.


Step 6.

To finish this task salve configuration tab and you should see the master computer name at the Master host name list. Select the radio button saying Allow any computer to take control. Once you done, you will see a system notification show "The Slave system is now available". 


That's all now, you can share a single keyboard and mouse for both computers.
